About the amaro tasting

One of the pleasures of spending time in Italy is discovering that food and drink are as much about conversation and friendship as they are about what's on the table.

Enoteca-Alessi-whole-100x0Our tasting will take place in the wine cellar of Enoteca Alessi, a historic Florentine enoteca known for its remarkable collection of more than 180 Italian amaros. Rather than focusing on famous international brands, we'll sample distinctive Italian expressions that many visitors have never encountered before.

We'll begin with a traditional aperitivo—a vermouth or light spritz—to ease into the afternoon before tasting several different amaros selected from Alessi's extensive collection. Along the way we'll enjoy a selection of Tuscan cheeses, salumi, bruschette, and other local specialties while sharing stories and reconnecting with friends.

This isn't intended to be a formal class. Think of it as an afternoon spent discovering one of Italy's great culinary traditions together.
